BT --> SKY: to jump or not to jump...
Been with BT for almost ten years now. No problems as such, we have phone line / broadband with them, and You View.

Now they have decided the monthly will leap up to almost 40 notes, and they don't want to negotiate anything sensible.

Mrs CHL reckons she can get a good basic deal with SKY for about £18 pm; landline & unlimited broadband etc (we hardly ever use the landline phone so that bit is not a big deal for us).

Anybody got any (sensible) experience of Sky (apart from 'they are wankers'... yeah we know, they are ALL wankers)?

Please don't suggest Virgin - I'm not giving Branson fuck all, the elitist money grubbing Remainer kant.

Thanks fellas.

CHL

Everyone has moans about their provider - same with banks etc.

I've had Sky and Virgin and had to call Virgin a LOT more about the broadband in the year I was with them than I ever have Sky.

you will find money wise there will not be much in it ,once any of these firms tie you in to a contract their prices will drift only one way .

if going with Sky, take out warranty on the boxes. If it happens to fail, they will charge you for a replacement

Admirable stance on Branson. Fuck the money, the service and the value, just stay with BT or go with Sky.

£18 sounds cheap though. Is there something awry with it?

Re: BT --> SKY: to jump or not to jump...
Not anymore. You don't own Sky Q boxes (not the main one anyway).

Re: BT --> SKY: to jump or not to jump...
Sounds like the BT deal includes line rental but the Sky deal does not from the figures you have given.

Re: BT --> SKY: to jump or not to jump...
Fucking hell, do you like telly? If so Sky is for you. Otherwise stick with your current diabolical set up.

Warranty on £50 worth of box? Have a day off!

Obviously being a Brexit mong you'll just go for the firm with the best advert without even thinking about how much it will cost.........

Careful with Sky Broadband included, speeds are awful,

And Murdoch isn't a money grabbing elitist cunt either ... oh. But he's a leaver. Despite being Australian and living in New York... obviously not "establishment"'... lol

Fuck off Vexed, you scallop. I don't sit on my fat arse all day watching shit, I have business to conduct, a 4 year old daughter to look after, and a 100 year old property under renovation. This is about broadband, primarily.

Hermit & Co: it's the Sky Broadband Unlimited deal - 12 month deal, line rental free for 12 months, £17.40 PM, or an extra tenner for Sky TV, which is not required as I keep all that stuff outside the line / band package.

And I'm proud to be a 'Brexit mong', Vexed - you'll thank us one day.

Re: BT --> SKY: to jump or not to jump...
Well if you're not interested in telly, too low brow for you brexit types clearly, then phone is phone and broadband is broadband you absolute numpty. Go for the cheapest and save the rest for your kids whose future you flushed down the shitter. But whatever you do don't go listening to experts will you?

Re: BT --> SKY: to jump or not to jump...
Whatever BB company you use, except Virgin, the speeds will be the same as it still comes down the same line.

The user interface on Sky TV is far superior, there are many BT staff who pay for Sky rather than use free services.

All Sky Q products are loaned but they give you life warranty for any issues

Only on WHO could a question on broadband turn into a row about fucking brexit.

Switch to Plusnet. Same kit, same standard...just much cheaper. They're like the discount subsidiary of BT.

Plusnet doesn't give you TV or does it?

Not true Mallard, Sky BB reduce the speeds on the all inclusive package.

Liberty Media bought Virgin Broadband some time back.

Re: BT --> SKY: to jump or not to jump...
I have Sky for Fibre and landline (which I don't use) for £20 a month all in. Was £37 a month, rang them up to switch to Plusnet and they offered £20 a month, bang. Can't get it cheaper.

I dunno about the service because it's always worked so i've never had to ring them! The only time I did was to cancel, I guess that says something?
